NSClient++ Help (#1) - where do the commands go? (#37) - Message List
I'm really confused, I'm hoping someone can help me understand how this works. When using check_nrpe to check modules on a nscp agent can I run a check directly from the command line of the Nagios server without there being a matching definition in the nsc.ini file under NRPE Handlers (i.e. ./check_nrpe -H hostname -c CheckFileAge? -a .....)? Or do I have to add a command to the nsc.ini file under NRPE Handlers before utilizing any of the modules (other than NSClientlistener) for every check I want to run against an nscp agent?
Thanks,

Commands are used as normal NRPE commands are used via the NRPE command line (generally called from your nagios configuration).
So if you use nagios you should add them to your nagios command configuration and then call those, if you use nrpe "stand alone" add them to the command line, and if you use some other monitoring agent, well, read the docs for that agent.
All my "info" is generally how to use it from NRPE command line for details on how to use NRPE from nagios checkout nagios/nrpe documenation.
